A thermoplastic s a type of plastic made from polymer resins that becomes a homogenized liquid when heated and hard when cooled. When frozen, however, a thermoplastic becomes glass-like and subject to fracture. These characteristics, which lend the material its name, are reversible. That is, it can be reheated, reshaped, and frozen repeatedly. This quality also makes thermoplastics recyclable. And, thermoplastics are the most commonly used type of plastic with Polyethelene (including HDPE, LDPE and LLDPE), Polypropylene (PP), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), and Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) being the most widely used. Other groups of thermoplastics are Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Ethylene Vinyl Acetate( EVA), Nylons (Polyamides) PA, Polystyrene (PS), Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA, acrylic), Thermoplastic Elastomers TPU TPE, TPR…

Recently, much more attention has been focused on green chemistry along with the fast development of the global economy, enhancement of environment protection consciousness of people, and the requirement of each field to the quality and performance of components and parts.
Proven that manufacturers of thermoplastics seek to improve extrusion rates, achieve consistent mold fill, excellent surface quality, lower power consumption, and help reduces energy costs, all without making modifications to conventional processing equipment, they can benefit from silicone additives to produce excellent aesthetic surface components, including lower COF, greater abrasion & scratch resistance, hand feel, and stain resistance, as well as help their product efforts to ward a more circular economy.

The advanced technology in the field of silicone additives is the use of ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) silicone polymer (PDMS) in various thermoplastic carriers or functionalized resins, combining excellent processing with an affordable cost.
SILIKE TECH’s silicone additives, either silicone masterbatch pellets or silicone powder, are easy to feed, or mix, into plastics during compounding, extrusion, or injection molding to optimize productivity to achieve high speed processability, eliminate trouble some extruder build-up,and enhance surface quality.
